Slam Games Design Team Expands

For Immediate Release:

Glasgow, UK, February 11th, 2007. Casual games company Slam has expanded its internal development team with the appointment of industry veteran Pete Morrish as a game designer.

Pete is based in the company's Glasgow headquarters and has already started working on a number of original new casual gaming titles. His responsibilities include the generation of new concepts for casual games and oversight of all games in production.

Pete has worked within the videogames industry for many years. He began life as part of Creature Lab's QA team before moving into design with developers including Climax, Kuju and Denki. He has worked on a wide range of original and licensed titles, across multiple platforms including PC, console and handheld.

"I'm delighted to be working with Slam," says Pete. "I've long been fascinated with casual games and it looks like the time is right to get some fresh and original concepts out there. The Casual Player is believed to be a hard nut to crack - forcing us to think outside our industry's self-imposed limitations, standards and traditions. I'm looking forward to creating products driven primarily by our customers' needs. Slam are very progressive and open-minded - and I'm confident that I've found a company who will support and encourage my thinking, no matter how unconventional it may be. It's a perfect match."

"The ongoing expansion of the casual games market means there is a growing demand for fun and original new games," says Slam's Linda MacKellar. "It's a sector which attracts players who may never have picked up a joypad and gives them a way into the wider world of gaming. This challenges developers to constantly approach gaming from new angles and find new mechanics and concepts which will appeal to this genuinely mass-market audience. Slam is growing to keep pace with the global demand for casual games and we're very pleased to welcome Pete to our development team."

Slam's next game, Planet Busters, is due for release in Quarter 1 2008. The company is also working on a number of other new titles which will be announced in the near future.
