Siege of the Necromancer

Next in the "Gamebook Adventures" series now available.

MEDIA RELEASE

Monday 7 June 2010

iPhone and iPod Touch owners are invited to return back to the fantasy setting of Orlandes as the highly anticipated second interactive book in the Gamebook Adventures series is launched. Tin Man Games has announced that The Siege of the Necromancer, the exciting follow-up to An Assassin in Orlandes, is now available to download from the App Store.

The second gamebook, which can be read and played independently of the first, takes the reader to the west coast of Orlandes and the town of Myr. An evil, dark wizard has put the town under siege and only the reader can break into the stronghold and rid the town of this mysterious mage and his ghastly cohorts.

Gamebook Adventures retains all the exciting features that made An Assassin in Orlandes popular. This includes an improved dice physics engine which makes rolling dice, while shaking the iDevice, even more realistic when you face off against creatures that reside under Myr’s stronghold. There are also more achievements to find throughout the adventure and nearly twice as many illustrations.

Neil Rennison, Tin Man Games’ creative director, said: “People loved looking for the shield achievements and hidden illustrations in Assassin, so we decided to broaden that element of the gamebook. It gives readers the opportunity to really explore all corners of the story narrative even once they have found the true ending.”

To provide an authentic gamebook reading experience the reader can quickly flick through the pages, interacting with the book by making choices at the end of page which can potentially link to over 500 individual sections. With the added ability to customise font sizes and typeface, the reader can set up the book to read as they wish.

“The first book introduced the capital city of Orlandes and we really wanted to expand the reader’s view of the land and introduce a bit more dungeon crawling, so the events of Necromancer take place far away in another part of the country. We’ve updated our in-app guidebook about the fantasy world too, with references to this book and our third book, Slaves of Rema. Expect to see further updates to this over the coming weeks,” Neil said.

With third and fourth Gamebook Adventures titles currently in the works, Tin Man Games is also looking into transferring their interactive gamebooks on to the iPad.

Neil continued: “We’re taking our time with these as we want to make the iPad versions something a bit different. We are looking at the new opportunities the platform brings and how we can adapt our gamebooks to make use of its unique features. However, the apps will be universal so if you own the iPhone version then you will be able to get the iPad version for free. We expect to roll these out later this year.”

Gamebook Adventures 2: The Siege of the Necromancer is available to download from the App Store now and costs USD$4.99. The next installment of the series, Slaves of Rema, will be released in July 2010. An Assassin in Orlandes is still available to purchase.
