SEGA taps Rockpool for mobile development

British developer selected to bring key videogames IP to handsets

Manchester-based mobile development studio Rockpool Games has been selected by SEGA Europe as its development partner in the creation of a number of games based on key SEGA brands.

The multi-game deal will see Rockpool handling not only development of their own titles, but also QA, porting and certification for SEGA's other mobile developments.

Although no details have yet been announced of the titles which Rockpool will be working on, the company claims that the deal covers "some of SEGA's most famous brands".

"We're very proud to have been selected by such a phenomenal company as SEGA," said Rockpool managing director Paul Gouge, "and we're excited to be a key part of their further advance into mobile. SEGA brands are the part of this history of the gaming industry and we're delighted that they chose Rockpool as the developer most capable of delivering their objectives."

For more about Rockpool - including details of its new casual games strategy, which has been launched under the SoGoPlay brand - check out our interview with Paul Gouge from earlier this week.
