User interface specialist reports revenue up 70%.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GREENBELT, MD – August 3, 2010 – Scaleform ® Corporation (Scaleform), the leading provider of user interface software for the videogame and consumer electronic industries, today announced that it has experienced 70% year-over-year revenue growth in Korea, making it Scaleform’s second largest market. The growth has been attributed to the importance Korean developers place on high-quality user interfaces, the country’s widespread use of Flash ® , which is utilized by Scaleform GFx, and Scaleform’s Input Method Editor (IME), which simplifies the creation of multi-language interfaces important to MMO titles.

The largely PC-based online game environment of Korea has proven to be the ideal market for Scaleform. “Scaleform enables developers to produce high-quality interfaces, menus and HUDs without constraining system resources or bandwidth. This is critical to the performance of massively multi-player online games (MMOs), which are the most popular game genre in Korea,” said Dillon Seo, Scaleform’s Korean Country Manager.

Korean developers also possess a widespread knowledge of Adobe ® Flash ® , making it easier for them to get up-and-running quickly with Scaleform’s Flash ® -based solution. In addition, the new Scaleform IME solution features a built-in Scaleform GFx TM Language Bar and Status Window, which simplifies multi-language interfaces and inputs by eliminating the need to memorize keyboard shortcuts. Scaleform IME’s multi-language functionality also enables Korean developers to enhance their online games with in-game chat that supports players and languages from all over the world, opening up the games appeal to a wider audience and increase revenue opportunities.

“Scaleform GFx is a great solution for the new UI of MU Online which is currently in development,” said Jun Hyug Im, Producer from Webzen. “As a versatile, Flash ® -based solution, Scaleform GFx is providing an easy way for our artists to quickly achieve an unmatched level of quality and performance for all of our interfaces and menus, while Scaleform IME is helping us expand our global community with multi-language menus, chat and mail support.”

Scaleform’s successes in Korea have prompted the company to re-focus its engineering efforts to serve the needs of this dynamic market. “We see enormous potential for the Korean video game market,” said Brendan Iribe, President and CEO of Scaleform. “We have made several key hires and adjusted our product roadmap to ensure we support this market to the best of our abilities and continue to rapidly grow in Korea.”
