Say What You See: Music Fest

Number six in the App Store's puzzle chart within five days of launch.

Monday 16th August 2010:

British developer Big Ideas Corp are proud to announce that their first iPhone game, Say What You See: Music Fest has become a top 10 puzzle app after just five days in the app store. At the time of writing, it’s currently sitting at #6 in the puzzle games chart in the Apple App Store.

While it can take some apps months to climb into the upper echelons of the chart, Say What You See’s addictive rebus-puzzles have managed to work their way into people’s hearts in an extremely short period of time, since its launch on Wednesday 11th August. The game, which involves spotting band names hidden in a beautifully hand-painted festival scene has so far only received 5 star ratings from app store users, while the Facebook forum has been over-run with more than 2,000 users trying to decipher its fiendish puzzles.

It’s clear that much of the game’s success is down to its ability to get under the player’s skin – Big Ideas Corp have already been sent e-mails from several users claiming that they’ve had puzzle solutions revealed to them in dreams. After being exposed to Say What You See by her boyfriend, one gamer even woke up at 3 in the morning to feverishly write down a long list of possible answers – despite not owning an iPhone herself!

Dubbed ‘iCanvases’, the hand-painted scenes have been produced by UK artist Amie Bolissian, whose work has been displayed internationally. Told of the app’s success in her studio this morning, she said: "I am truly chuffed that Say What You See is such an immediate success and especially that people are losing sleep... I certainly lost plenty coming up with the clues in the first place, so it’s only fair."

Big Ideas Corp are planning to release a new iCanvas with a different theme each month. The next canvas, ‘80’s movies’ will be released in September, alongside an iPad optimised version of the app.
