SAW 2

Coming this fall to Xbox 360, PS3.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – April 12, 2010 – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc., today announced SAW 2 is being developed for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Following the success of the first SAW video game and based on Lionsgate®’s and Twisted Pictures’ popular horror film franchise, SAW 2 invites players back into Jigsaw’s twisted world. With new stomach-twisting traps and puzzles, more visceral combat, and an all-new storyline that takes place between the second and third movie players will be able delve deeper into the horror and mystery of Jigsaw’s subjects.

“The original SAW video game gave horror fans and gamers a new outlet to advance their favorite genre, but left them wanting more,” said Careen Yapp, Vice President of Licensing and Acquisitions for Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. “This game gives it to them, but like the saying goes, be careful for what you wish for. Our successful partnership with Lionsgate® and Twisted Pictures allows us to advance the survival horror genre, giving players the most intense look into the SAW universe ever.”

Lionsgate®’s President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Jason Constantine explains “This year, fans have two great opportunities to be immersed in the world of Saw like never before. First, with this new video game, which offers the deepest and most richly detailed survival horror gaming experience yet, and Halloween comes early this year, when the film franchise goes 3D on October 22, 2010 in theaters nationwide for the first time ever.” Franchise creators and producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules of Twisted Pictures echo the enthusiasm; “Together with Konami and Lionsgate, we are thrilled to be able to meet and exceed the expectations of die hard SAW fans, and indeed all horror and gaming fans, yet again this year.”

Developed by Zombie Studios, SAW 2 puts players in the shoes of Detective Trapp’s estranged son Michael, who is trying to understand his father’s death. Through a series of seemingly unconnected events, the reunion may not be a happy one as he has become Jigsaw’s next victim. In advancing through the story, players will face mind-bending puzzles, as they navigate their way through Jigsaw’s terrifying world, and defend themselves against his minions. In order to survive Jigsaw’s games, players must use their intelligence and desire to live in order to survive.

SAW 2 will be released in North America this Fall, as will SAW VII 3D, the seventh installment of the SAW film franchise, which hits theaters on October 22nd. For more information about the game, please visit: www.konami.com/.
