Rumours point to $149 Natal price point

Unconfirmed reports suggest $299 console bundle for Xbox 360 motion-sensing camera

The standalone price of Microsoft's Project Natal motion-sensing camera could be $149 (£104/€122), according to online rumours.

Citing an unnamed "trusted source", website Edge Online also claims that a new Xbox 360 Arcade and Natal console bundle will be released for $299 (£206/€244).

Traditionally the European cost of games hardware is higher than the US equivalent, often tracking very close to the same dollar amount.

Microsoft, which recently confirmed that Project Natal was not the final name of the device, has given no indication of the price of the hardware.

One of the most notable previous estimates of the device's cost came from analyst Michael Pachter, who also predicted a console bundle for $299.

A report from UK retail site MCV, from November 2009, also suggested a price of below £50 ($72/€59), with a launch line-up of 14 titles.

At various times retail listings have appeared to support both prices, with no clear consensus emerging.

Sony's rival motion controller, Move, is set to retail with the PlayStation Eye camera for a sub $100 price point when it launches this fall.
