Rodriguez joins Republic of Fun board

Crowd-sourcing developer grabs ex-LucasArts president

Ex-LucasArts president Darryl Rodriguez has been appointed to the board of social games publisher Republic of Fun.

The Republic of Fun invites its users to vote on design decisions, and rewards them with development credits, prizes and online status symbols. It releases titles for iPad and iPhone and intends to soon target XBLA, PSN and WiiWare.

"Darrell brings a wealth of knowledge and deep insight into games as well as the online and eCommerce space and will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to our board", offered Mike Rasmussen, president of Republic of Fun.

"We share a passion for casual gaming and providing the masses with the ability to let their creative voice be heard, Darrell understands the space and his leadership will be a great resource in helping us achieve our vision".

Rodriguez, who left LucasArts in May, has also held senior positions at Electronic Arts and Disney.

"Social gaming is one of the biggest drivers of the explosive growth in social media and Republic of Fun is getting it right by empowering the people that are passionate about games to have a say in which games they get to play," said Rodriguez.

"I feel privileged to join this exciting and dynamic team and look forward to working with Mike and the Board during the next phase of the company's growth."
