Rock Band Network

OK Go remix contest launched.

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Sept. 29, 2010 – Harmonix Music Systems and MTV Games, a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today announced the launch of a competition, in conjunction with Indaba Music, that invites fans to remix the newest single from OK Go, the most downloaded band ever, for the Rock Band Network.

Contestants are invited to remix OK Go’s newest single “White Knuckles,” and the winning entry will be authored into a Rock Band Network track by Harmonix employees. The track will be available for purchase through the Rock Band Network Music Store in late November.  The winner will also receive a copy of Rock Band 3, an Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, as well as Rock Band instruments, including drums, guitar, keyboard and microphone, plus a copy of OK Go's new album, Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (Deluxe Edition). To enter the competition and find more information, click here.

OK Go’s hit single “Here It Goes Again” was featured on Rock Band and will also be playable in Rock Band 3, thanks to the export technology that Harmonix pioneered. “Here It Goes Again,” along with the nearly 2,000 tracks in the Rock Band catalog, will be available for play in Rock Band 3 when it is released Oct. 26 in North America and Oct. 29 in the rest of the world for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Wii™ and Nintendo DS™. Find more information on how to pre-order Rock Band 3 today here.

Each week beginning Sept. 21 and running through Oct. 14, OK Go's producer, Dave Fridmann, will choose his favorite remixes to be featured on OK Go's website. These remixes will also be made available for fans to download accompanying pre-order for the Nov. 2 U.S. release of Of The Blue Colour of the Sky (Deluxe Edition).  The contest winner will be announced Oct. 29.

Grammy-award winning band OK Go – comprised of Damian Kulash, Tim Nordwind, Dan Konopka and Andy Ross – was formed in Chicago in 1998 and currently reside in Los Angeles, California.  Their fall North American tour kicks off on Oct. 3 at the Los Angeles County Fair and continues past the release of their newest album.

For the music video for “White Knuckles,” OK Go, whose previous music videos became Internet phenomena, worked with some amazing collaborators – in the form of four-legged rock stars. The video, filmed in one take, received more than 1 million views in the first 24 hours it was posted, assisted by the canine costars. As most of the dogs in the video are rescues, the band is donating a portion of proceeds from the sale of the video on their site to animal rescue in the United States.
