Registrations for Leipzig GC hit record level

This year's Leipzig Games Convention is set to be the biggest event, with the event organisers reporting that the number of registrations is already higher than ever before.

With three months to go until Leipzig GC, nearly 40 per cent more space has been booked in the Business Center compared to this time last year.

The GC Business Center is designed to provide a place for developers, publishers and other industry professionals to meet. This year it will be hosted in both the Congress Center Leipzig and the whole of Hall 1, bringing the total exhibition space to 30,000 square metres.

International exhibitors are said to be showing a particularly strong presence, with companies from 15 countries registered.

"The current registration figures for the Business Center prove that Leipzig is the industryâs most important fixture, including for international exhibitors," said GC project director Peggy Schönbeck.

Attendees already confirmed for Leipzig include Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Take 2, Konami, SEGA, Eidos, Vivendi, Activision and Disney. In addition, new development studios will be presenting their work in the Developer's Village, which will feature a joint stand for French teams for the first time this year.

The Leipzig GCDC will take place from August 22 - 26 at the Leipziger Messe Convention Center, while the Business Center will be open from August 22 - 25. For more information and to register for the event, visit GC-Germany.com.
