Redboss announces Train Tycoon for mobiles

Czech publisher working with strategy veteran Chris Sawyer

Mobile games publisher and developer Redboss Games has announced the development of Train Tycoon for Java enabled handsets, in collaboration with Transport Tycoon designer Chris Sawyer.

An industry veteran, Sawyer is responsible for a series of hit games on PC over many years, including the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise and Chris Sawyer's Locomotion.

Jakub Mikyska, Redboss Games CEO, commented: "We are proud that such a big name as Chris Sawyer has cooperated with Redboss in the creation of Train Tycoon. We have taken this challenge with huge enthusiasm and our goal is to create the best strategy game for the mobile platform."

Based on Chris Sawyer's isometric PC classics, Train Tycoon will feature numerous objectives and challenges as players design and build an immense transportation network, overcoming obstacles and issues that rely on a keen strategy and well structured network to resolve.

The game is scheduled for release on a range of Java enabled handsets in the second quarter of 2006.

With offices in Prague and Ostrava, Redboss is one of the main developers and distributors of mobile games in the Chez Republic. Retailing through its dedicated mobile games portal, the company is currently developing approximately 15 new mobile games.

Working with various technology platforms such as Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile and Mophun, Redboss employs over 80 internal and external staff, over half of whom are working on new game development. Producing an average of 1-3 games per month, the company is extending its reach through strategic partnerships with both Czech and foreign distributors and mobile operators.
