PSP sales climb on Kingdom Hearts release

But PSPgo outsold by PlayStation 2 in Japan

The release of Square Enix's latest Kingdom Hearts game has had a knock-on effect for Sony's PSP, with the system selling over 145,000 units for the week ended January 10, according to data from Media Create.

In stark contrast, the digital-only PSPgo sold a very poor 2841 units, and was outsold by the ageing PlayStation 2.

The DS family also performed well in the region, with a over 105,000 units of the DSi, DSi LL, and DS Lite sold combined.

The Wii led home consoles with over 76,000 units sold, although Sony's PlayStation 3 wasn't far behind with more than 61,500 units. Microsoft's Xbox 360 sold just over 5400 units.

Japanese hardware sales for the week ending January 10 follow:
