Christopher Morais crowned PES 2010 World Champion.

Portuguese entrant Christopher Morais has been crowned PES 2010 World Champion, following a taut competition held in Majorca on September 25, 2010.

The ninth PES Final was the most exhaustive yet, featuring representatives from 21 different countries, including all major European territories plus Brazil, Argentina, Japan and the US, among others. In total, 34 players were gathered at Majorca's stunning Porto Petro venue, where the six-hour competition got under way with a series of group stages. From these, the world's top PES 2010 players were whittled down to a final 16 for the knock-out stages.

After a series of tough games, the knock-out stages saw entrants from Russia, Spain and Belgium fall by the wayside, with Sven 'S-Butcher' Wehmeier from Germany facing Christopher Morais in the first semi-final, while Italy's 13 year-old Giannuzzi 'Ettorito97' E. met George 'The Greek' Tsirita from the UK in the other. The first semi-final was a tense affair, although Christopher Morais emerged victorious with a confident 5-1 win, while a 4-2 victory saw 'Ettorito97' join him in the final.

Overseen by European PES Team Leader Jon Murphy and the Producer Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, the Portuguese and Italian adversaries engaged in a stunning match. The two players battled doggedly, but eventually Christopher Morais edged the title defeating his plucky opponent by 2-1. Seabass duly crowned the Portuguese winner, and presented him with a trophy and additional prizes such as a soccer weekend of his choice.

The entire event was streamed live to an audience of thousands of die-hard PES fans, and represented the biggest PES Finals to date. "We are delighted to crown Christopher Morais as PES World Champion after such an entertaining competition," said Martin Schneider, European Marketing Director for KONAMI GmbH. "The response from the attendees has been incredibly positive, and we are delighted to conclude the PES 2010 season in such style."

Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 ® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation ® 3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation ® 2 computer entertainment system, PSP ® (PlayStation ® Portable) system, Wii TM and Windows PC this fall.
