Premium Bluetooth Controller

snakebyte offers replacements following PS3 system software update 3.50 issues.

On September 21st, 2010, Sony Computer Entertainment released system software update 3.50 for the PlayStation 3 (source

50/> ). In addition to improvements like enabling playback of 3D content on Blu-Ray discs, the new firmware also introduced various new restrictions.

Just as system software update 3.42 locked down PSJailbreak, which had enabled jailbroken PS3s to run unsigned code and thus made it possible to play pirated games, system software update 3.50 takes aim at third-party peripherals. According to an announcement < http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/>  on the US PlayStation website, "counterfeit and unlicensed PlayStation®3 Controllers" are dangerous and may potentially ignite or explode and are thus disabled by the new firmware.

As a brand and manufacturer with a dedication to quality and a history of producing high-quality products, snakebyte strongly distances itself from this statement. The so-called "counterfeit controllers" (copies of the Dual Shock 3) don't only damage Sony Computer Entertainment's bottom line - they put established third-party manufacturers under price pressure as well. The unsubstantiated announcement cited above implies that an award-winning, certified product like the snakebyte Premium Bluetooth controller for the PlayStation 3 is also a danger to consumers that "may ignite or explode".

The current situation is this: The snakebyte Premium Bluetooth Controller can no longer communicate wirelessly with a PlayStation 3 running system software version 3.50, but the controller can still be used with the included USB cable. The Player LED will not display the correct player number, but that information can still be found in the XMB (Cross Media Bar, PS3 main menu). Other snakebyte products like the Wired & Wireless Controller still work just as smoothly as they did before the update.

snakebyte is dedicated to making high-quality products that offer our customers a better gaming experience. We're proud of our products and, especially in this case, we stand by them. Customers can join our Bluetooth Controller mailing list so that we can ensure that they receive either a replacement controller or a guaranteed free repair after October 5th, 2010. As compensation for the problem, every Premium Bluetooth Controller owner will receive a free snakebyte 3D HDMI Cable.
