PlayStation divisions unaffected by Sony Japan shuffle

Regional HQs to remain part of SCE family

Sony has told GamesIndustry.biz that an executive and divisional shuffle at Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan will not affect regional PlayStation businesses.

Sony in Japan is to split the recently formed Sony Network Entertainment business away from the PlayStation business, with SNE becoming part of Sony Corp from April 1.

Sony Network Entertainment is headed up by Kaz Hirai, and charged with bringing online connected services such as the PlayStation Network to hardware including Sony Ericsson phones, Vaio laptops, Blu-ray players and Bravia TVs.

Reports earlier today had suggested the Sony Computer Entertainment brand would be dropped.
