Playrix 2009 recap

Five new games launched, assorted awards bagged, multi-platform strategy unveiled.

VOLOGDA, Dec. 30 -- Playrix® Entertainment, a top-tier casual games developer and publisher of such hits as Gardenscapes™, Fishdom™, Call of Atlantis™, 4 Elements™, and others, sums up the most important events of 2009 and touches upon the company’s strategy for the year to come.

GAMES

In 2009 Playrix® launched 5 new top-quality and fun games that were warmly received both by the consumers and the industry professionals.

In March 2009 Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey™, the first hidden object game in Playrix’s portfolio, was released. The glitch-free combination of hidden object and sim, Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey™ takes players to the bottom of the sea to collect numerous hidden items in over 16 eye-teasing locations and build up their dream aquarium.

Fishdom: Spooky Splash™, Fishdom: Harvest Splash™ and Fishdom: Frosty Splash™ followed on the success of the original Fishdom™. The Halloween, farm and winter-themed sequels of the flagship title all feature a seamless mix of match-3 and sim. These Fishdom franchise extensions challenge players to complete addictive match-3 levels and create a virtual aquarium with a unique atmosphere.

Since its universal launch in November 2009, Gardenscapes™ quickly gained popularity and now seems to settle for long in the top 10 charts on the leading casual games portals worldwide. In the game players earn cash as they progress through hidden object levels and spend it to buy garden accessories to customize the garden to their taste.

In October 2009 Elementals: The Magic Key™, the company’s first published title, came into being and showed great results on a variety of portals.

AWARDS

To a great delight of the whole Playrix team, who celebrated their 5th anniversary this year, some of their most cherished titles were honored with prestigious awards. 4 Elements™ reached the final short list of nominees for the Elan Awards in the “Best Casual Game” category, and Fishdom™ was declared one the Greatest Video Games of 2009 by iParenting Media.

MULTI-PLATFORM STRATEGY

In June 2009 Playrix announced their intention to deliver their games far beyond the PC audience, by pursuing a multi-platform strategy. The fun of Playrix gaming experience was brought first to the Mac devotees, which significantly boosted company’s fan base. The Rise of Atlantis™, Call of Atlantis™, Fishdom™, Elementals: The Magic Key™ and others now all run on the Mac OS X.

A couple of Playrix games became available on Nintendo DS (Around the World in 80 Days™ and Fishdom™), and very soon several titles will be available for iPhone with an internal team working on their adaptations.

PLANS

“2009 was a fruitful year for Playrix, and has shown us that we are on the right track,” says Dmitry Bukhman, Playrix’s President, Strategy. “For the next year we will prioritize development of applications for the social networks and further work on our branding initiatives in this direction. Bringing Playrix products to the iPhone audience is another thing we plan to focus on in 2010. And certainly our fans will see a bunch of new great downloadable games.”
