Playlogic signs up to games on-demand service

Dutch publisher Playlogic International has signed an agreement to make all its current and future titles available on-demand to consumers with broadband-connected devices.

The titles will be ported over to the G-cluster platform, which uses a dedicated grid of game servers to offer games on-demand via mobile phones, PCs, digital cable and IPTV set-top boxes.

To begin with, a total of four titles will be offered through G-cluster: World Racing 2, Knights of the Temple II, Gene Troopers and Xyanide. Playlogic intends to simultaneously launch boxed and narrowcast G-cluster versions in Japan, but promotional pre-releases via G-cluster are also planned.

"We see G-cluster as part of our core distribution strategy," said Playlogic VP Stefan Layer.

"The G-cluster platform allows us to target digital TV homes with our content, not just homes with high-end PCs and consoles. This allows us to reach new audiences and monetize our products more effectively."

G-cluster's Thomas Schmidt added: "Playlogic has great titles and we have every reason to believe that they will maintain this level of quality. There's a very good fit in terms of both content and culture."
