Playfish co-founder to keynote Evolve in London

Kristian Segerstrale to speak on the future of social gaming

Playfish general manager and co-founder Kristian Segerstrale has been announced as the keynote speaker at the inaugural Evolve in London conference, where he will speak on the future of the social gaming sector.

Segerstrale's presentation, entitled Social Gaming: After the Revolution, will focus on the way in which the relatively young social gaming market has evolved, what shape it might take in the future and advice for companies looking to get started in the sector.

"Social gaming took the conventional videogames industry by surprise, there was a real gap in the market for 'connectedness' and a few companies, like Playfish, managed to reach a whole new audience and create a new type of gamer," said Segerstrale.

"But those 'new' gamers are now pretty much mainstream... Now, the interesting question is what happens next for social gaming."

The conference, which takes place in London on December 8, 2010, is a one day event focused on development for new technologies, markets and platforms. Previously, it has operated as part of Brighton's Develop conference, but will be staged as an event in its own right for the first time this year.

Playfish was recently acquired by EA, with the Redwood publisher citing the social company as a key part of its forward-looking strategy.
