Playdom appoints new financial executive

Wall Street analyst joins social gaming company as CFO

A former Wall Street analyst, and the former managing director of Thomas Weisel Partners Group, has been appointed as chief financial officer for social gaming company Playdom.

Christa Quarles will join the company's executive team and report directly to CEO John Pleasants. She previously served as senior equity research analyst at Thomas Weisel, working at the top-rated analyst firm for over a decade.

"I’m excited to help Playdom accelerate its already-impressive growth," said Quarles. "Social gaming is a high trajectory industry and Playdom is uniquely well positioned for long-term success."

"Christa brings proven business intelligence and financial expertise to Playdom. In particular, she has incredible insight into the formula behind successful consumer Internet companies," said Pleasants. "We’re thrilled to head into 2010 with Christa on our team."

Playdom has seen considerable growth in recent months, announcing a new USD 43 million round of investment in November - just prior to its acquisition of Facebook developer Green Patch and iPhone developer Trippert Labs.
