Play Sunshine launch

New PC, console, iPhone and Facebook developer comes to light.

Aylesbury, England and Bucharest, Romania

The launch of a new games development and publishing company, Play Sunshine, is officially announced today, in time for the new decade. With publishing offices in the UK and development offices in Bucharest, Romania, Play Sunshine already has official developer status on Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii and Apple iPhone, to go along with its development work for PC, on-line and Facebook games.

The development offices (formerly Newrosoft) are headed by programming veteran Andrei Gireada, the CTO for the new business: “Having worked on over 60 released games to date on a variety of formats, including titles such as Bewitched (Sony Pictures Digital, game nominated for Casual Game of the Year 2005), The Da Vinci Code (Sony Pictures Digital, 2006) and Age of Mourning (Limitless Horizons, 2005) it is a pleasure to now be part of this exciting new venture. We have spent many months working on our first completed titles, as well as working with a number of companies on partnership and work-for-hire developments on the likes of iPhone and PC.”

Richard M Holmes, CEO of Play Sunshine, stated, “Play Sunshine has already completed its first twelve products, two on PC and five each on iPhone and Nintendo DS. We will be releasing information on these titles and on our publishing and distribution partnerships in the coming weeks. We are starting with a team of 20 in development, however are in the process of signing some big clients and expect to grow our operations in Bucharest rapidly, both for first party and third party development. The combination of highly experienced management, great value development costs and an EU location are proving to be very attractive for our partners in Europe and the US alike.”

Richard has previously set up publishers Black Legend and IncaGold, has published three number one hits, over 400 titles and took IncaGold public on the AIM stock-exchange in 2005.

On titles being published by Play Sunshine itself on the PC format, the company is focussing on mid-price mass-market appeal racing games, a genre with which the founders have had considerable success in previous ventures.

“We aim to build Romania's premier independent development office for our self-published and third-party development across the mass-market platforms. Our team is growing rapidly, as is our list of clients and partners and we plan to have over 50 members of staff by the end of 2010 to keep up with client demand,” concluded Andrei Gireada.
