Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising

New gameplay video arises.

Tuesday 31st March/... From the initial deployment of a US Marine Corps fireteam through to the moment when a 155mm Howitzer strike blasts the landscape, Codemasters® today revealed Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising in action with the release of the “Open World Modern Warfare” gameplay video, now available from www.flashpointgame.com.

Presenting tactical, immersive warfare on a scale never seen before in a shooter, the new video demonstrates how Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising takes gamers to the vast 220 km² island of Skira, a rigorously researched and meticulously recreated battlefield, located off the eastern coast of Russia and north of Japan. The game authentically recreates conflict on a 360-degree theatre of war, allowing players to approach objectives on Skira from any direction. On this immense and realistic battlefield, where one bullet can kill, players face the fear and mortality felt by soldiers immersed in deadly modern warfare as they are challenged to survive the rapidly evolving situations of battle.

As the epic campaign unfold, players will fight as US Marines Infantry and Special Operations Forces fireteam leaders against the military might of a division from the People’s Liberation Army of China, in an attempt to prevent a flashpoint engagement over oil erupting into a full blown international war. From intense fire fights through to paced tactical decision making, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising recreates the brutal reality of the modern combat experience with serious attention to the detail of the weapons, equipment and tactics of the armed forces.

In addition to the extensive single player campaign, an in-depth co-op multiplayer component will be featured, enabling squads of four players to work tactically through the intense campaign together. Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set to deliver the most accessible, engaging and visceral sandbox shooter of the year and it’s coming this summer for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Games For Windows®. Take a step closer to war with the new gameplay video, now available online at www.flashpointgame.com.

ABOUT OPERATION FLASHPOINT®: DRAGON RISING

Taking gamers as close to war as they’ll ever want to get, Operation Flashpoint®: Dragon Rising will deliver the total combat experience, challenging players to survive the chaos and rapidly evolving situations of modern warfare in a new contemporary theatre

The 220km2 island of Skira, located off the eastern coast of Russia, north of Japan, is an oil-rich Russian-controlled island that stands on the brink of war. An airborne division of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) lands to claim the island as the sovereign possession of the People’s Republic. Russia turns to the US for support aid and they’re quick to respond. Sending in the USS Iwo Jima, an expeditionary force of US Marines launch an assault on the strung out but dug-in Chinese force. Can the situation be defused before this flashpoint turns white hot and an all-out global war between the superpowers erupts?

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will give players the freedom to handle military crisis situations on their initiative. Unscripted missions will task players with real objectives, such as laying down suppressing fire, covering a friendly unit’s retreat or conducting short-range recon patrol. Coming this summer for the Xbox 360™, the PLAYSTATION®3 and Games For Windows®, Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is in development at Codemasters Studios utilising an evolved variant of its proprietary award-winning EGO™ Game Technology Engine.
