Perlman will also discuss the technical specifications of the service, which is currently in an open beta testing phase.

Other new speakers include Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home, who will be part of a panel on "Disruptive Game Platforms", where he will discuss Sony's virtual world and newly launched features such as social game Sodium.

Chris Petrovic, senior vice president and general manager of GameStop Digital Ventures, will appear on a separate panel to discuss his strategy for integrating digital downloads with GameStop's core retail business.

Other newly confirmed panel speakers include Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason, Outspark CEO Owen Mahoney, Booyah founder and CEO Keith Lee, PopCap Games co-founder John Vechey, hi5 president and CTO Alex St. John and Zynga East chief designer Brian Reynolds.

A "fireside chat" with Electronic Arts chief operating officer John Schappert is also scheduled for the summit, whose overall theme this year is described as "Disruption 2.0".

The summit is due to take play on March 10. The wider GDC conference runs from March 9 to 13, with previously announced keynote speakers including Peter Molyneux, Tim Schafer, Sid Meier, Toy Story creators Matthew Luhn and Andrew Gordon and fantasy novelist R.A Salvatore.
