Okamoto to oversee new mobile game service

Yoshiki Okamoto, the former Capcom exec and founder of independent developer Game Republic, is to make a move into mobile gaming with the launch of a new Japanese game service called Mobgame.

Created by content firm Mobcast, Mobgame will launch with eight games and will add three to five new games a month, ranging from full sized RPGs and adventure games to quirky pick up and play titles.

Okamoto, who is currently working on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 titles under the auspices of Game Republic, will act as producer on the range of titles which will be launched by Mobgame.

Some of the games will also carry his name - starting with one of the launch titles on the service, Okamoto Yoshiki no Ousama-Game ("Yoshiki Okamoto's King Game"), which is a mobile party game designed for up to 99 players.
