01/10/10 – UK PlayStation gamers have named Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 2: Among Thieves as the greatest Sony PlayStation game ever – narrowly beating the classic Metal Gear Solid to the top-spot.

The poll was carried out to jointly celebrate the 15 ^th anniversary of the first Sony PlayStation console in the UK and the 50 ^th issue of Future’s Official PlayStation Magazine .

The US developed Uncharted 2: Among Thieves went on sale in late 2009 for the PlayStation 3 console and was awarded 10/10 in Official PlayStation Magazine .  In the poll of gamers, it beat Metal Gear Solid, Konami’s 1998 PlayStation title and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII top the honour, in a poll which saw thousands of votes cast.

The poll recognises the very best games of the last decade and a half of PlayStation gaming, across the three generations of console, with two Rockstar Games titles, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Red Dead Redemption making the list.  While Konami’s Metal Gear Solid missed out in the top spot, the gaming series was singled out for praise by fans, with three of the games appearing in the top 10.
