In just two short weeks after opening its first branch, cubicle monkeys around the world have been climbing office walls to get into Astro Ape Studios’ Office Heroes. Within those two weeks, Office Heroes signed over 300,000 self-starting go-getters, who have been hard at work decorating their offices and stocking up on paperclips, the in-game currency that works like white-collar ammo, helping players build bigger, better offices.
It’s not all about competition, though — the game has thousands of fans on Facebook, who use the social networking site as a platform on which to exchange questions, show off their offices and search for more in-game friends. While Facebook has been a gathering place for the office Heroes community Astro Ape Studios removed the requirement to log into Facebook to play shortly after launch, responding to popular demand.
In addition to being featured by Apple with a banner, “What’s Hot” and “New & Noteworthy” placement, Office Heroes has garnered recognition and rankings that would impress even The Donald. Stateside, the game remained steadily ranked among the Top 50 Free Games in and the #1 Adventure Game in the US. Office Heroes saw success abroad as well, placing in the Top 10 Overall Apps in many countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan and Australia.
“We have been overwhelmed by the positive response from the community – Office Heroes had a phenomenal opening run!” said William Fong, co-founder of Astro Ape Studios. “My co-founder Chris Cheung and I were just a couple of worker bees in New Jersey, when we realized that there was something we could do to make our day jobs more fun – so we quit our day jobs, and made a hit video game about our day jobs! Stay tuned – we have tons of great updates on the horizon.”
Indeed, it isn’t break time yet — sharpen those pencils, straighten your tie and pour another cup of coffee because many updates are in the works for Office Heroes, including hundreds of fun new office and avatar items, friend invites, push notifications and more.
