Nyko Intercooler 360 Achieves Record Breaking Sales

September 2006

For Immediate Release

The Intercooler 360 - Nyko's new XBox 360 cooling accessory for extending game play - is generating massive interest amongst the XBox 360 community and achieving record-breaking sales in the UK following its launch at the beginning of August.

The Intercooler 360 (£19.99) improves the functionality of the console, and extends its life and performance. Using its three integrated fans it cools the internal circuitry, increases inner airflow and reduces heat. The Intercooler 360 clips into place on the XBox 360 for easy installation and is powered by the XBox 360 console so no additional power source is required.

In the 6 weeks since its arrival, sales of the Intercooler have equalled Pinpoint's annual sales for its market-leading disc repair system the Skip Doctor Advanced. Stores have also reported phenomenal sell through figures - with one leading online retailer reporting the product ranking as the best selling 3rd party 360 peripheral. Even prior to the product's official launch it had generated a huge amount of interest from both retailers and consumers, with thousands of pre-orders being taken.

"The Intercooler is an excellent example of a product borne through listening to the needs of consumers. The immense success that the Intercooler 360 has experienced to date demonstrates there is a need for a product which extends game play and helps protect the console from the inner heat generated from long gaming sessions"; comments Stuart Perriam, Business Development Director of Nyko's European distributor Pinpoint Consumer Electronics.

Though the nature of the Intercooler is primarily functional, attention has also been paid to the aesthetic features of the product and it has been designed to look like part of the XBox 360 itself.

Following on from the success of the Intercooler 360, Pinpoint Consumer Electronics is launching the Cooler King from Gamexpert in Quarter 4. The Cooler King offers internal cooling but also upgrades the sound and vision quality of the XBox 360. It is the next step up from the Intercooler 360 and enhances the 360 with its comprehensive 3-in-1 design. It incorporates two large fans for internal heat protection, a high definition cable connection centre to upgrade the performance of the console and a 4-way USB hub for additional controllers and digital devices such as a digital camera or iPod. Priced at £29.99 the Cooler King offers much more than other accessories on the market in terms of its advanced design and value for money, and is expected to be the number one selling 3rd party XBox 360 accessory for Christmas and 2007.
