NVIDIA® SLI™ TECHNOLOGY SELECTED BY PREMIER DEVELOPERS AS KEY DEVELOPMENT PLATFORM

NVIDIA SLI Multi-GPU Technology Enables Developers to Scale Today’s and Tomorrow’s Applications for Maximum Performance

The NVIDIA SLI technology wave of momentum continued today when top game and application developers announced they are using NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) SLI technology as their primary development platform. Taking full advantage of the power of two graphics processing units (GPUs) within a single PC, developers are pushing the capabilities of today's games and applications, as well as simulating the performance of tomorrow's top titles.

The companies using SLI technology as the centrepiece of their development labs include:

  • Activision
  • Adobe
  • Digital Illusions
  • Ensemble Studios
  • EPIC Games
  • GSC Gameworld
  • Infinity Ward
  • Irrational Games
  • Lionhead Studios
  • Monolith
  • Raven
  • Relic Studios
  • Ritual Entertainment
  • Ubisoft
  • Valve
  • Webzen, Inc.

NVIDIA SLI technology is the platform of choice for the most demanding enthusiasts and gamers. In addition, NVIDIA SLI technology is a key component of development platforms for the PC, as well as next-generation consoles. With NVIDIA SLI technology as the primary development platform, developers are able to achieve performance gains of up to 2x and build a true next-generation game or game engine to power gaming and digital media experiences.

What They're Saying:

"NVIDIA SLI technology is the only hardware solution available today to showcase the full range of capabilities of Unreal Engine 3, which is why we've not only chosen it as our technology platform, but are recommending it to our engine licensees," said Mark Rein, vice president at Epic Games.

"Age of Empires III is a cutting-edge Windows® title. The SM3.0 features that we use are state-of-the-art. With all of the bells and whistles on, most graphics rigs are brought to their knees. The NVIDIA SLI configuration, though, takes everything we can give it and keeps on rocking. The performance boost with an SLI configuration is impressive, to say the least," said Dave Pottinger, director of technology at Ensemble Studios.

"The need to push graphics technology has never been greater, as cutting-edge titles like Call of Duty 2 immerse gamers into the most realistic and authentic game experiences ever. NVIDIA recognises this need and is delivering the hardware innovation to help us shape the way tomorrow's games will look," stated Vince Zampella, chief creative officer, Infinity Ward.

"Moving into the next generation of game graphics, we are increasingly finding ourselves limited by the sheer complexity of the shaders we are sending through the pipeline. With SLI technology we are suddenly able to really push the limits and run incredibly complex shaders at higher resolutions than we were previously capable of. In turn, this translates into better-looking and faster running games for the user," stated Rowan Wyborn, lead technology programmer at Irrational Games.

"NVIDIA SLI technology allows us to have our games run at frames never before reached in our lab. By adding a second card, it allows us to plan for the future of GPU performance and design our games to hit certain performance targets," said Kevin Stephens, Director of Technology at Monolith.

"For years, I've been asking the video card companies to allow people to invest into their gaming rigs. Meaning, if you want to increase your graphics prowess at any time, if you simply demand the most amazing visuals, then you could easily buy a dramatic upgrade. NVIDIA has more than answered the call with SLI and all I can say is WOW!" stated Dave Perry, President, Shiny Entertainment.

"By consistently introducing new performance enhancements like SLI and new important 3D graphics technologies - like Shader Model 3.0 - before anyone else, NVIDIA enables developers to push the art form forward further than before," said Julien Merceron, Worldwide Technical Director, Ubisoft.

"Many of the world's leading developers design titles far in advance of the availability of hardware that will actually be able to play their games. To be sure that games look stunning when they are released, we must develop tomorrow's titles on the most cutting-edge hardware platform available today, that hardware is NVIDIA SLI technology," said KiJong Kang, Huxley producer at Webzen Inc.
