Novaquark signs $3.5 million funding deal for Dual Universe

Andurance Venture and Azom Partners' support brings game's funding total to $11.5 million

Paris-based developer Novaquark has signed a $3.5 million funding deal for its upcoming sci-fi MMO, Dual Universe. When combined with existing crowdfunding from the game's 2016 Kickstarter, funds raised will total $11.5 million.

Private investors Adurance Venture and Azom Partners signed the deal to support Dual Universe and will provide the funds over the course of the year.

The money will go toward supporting Dual Universe's upcoming alpha test and continued development. Currently, the game is in pre-alpha and planned for launch in 2020.

As a part of this, Novaquark intends to expand its production team throughout this year and next, adding onto its existing 40-person studio.

Dual Universe is planned to be a single-shard, sandbox MMO with a focus on telling "emergent stories" in a world where all players inhabit and affect the same game space.
