Info on the presentations at next month's shindig in Sweden.

This year’s Nordic Game conference sees a powerful string of presentations especially designed for professional programmers seeking knowledge and solutions concerning some of the most important games technology issues today.

One of the featured disciplines in the new Games Creation and Technology program at the Nordic Game 2008 will be games programming, featuring a series of in-depth and unique technology sessions for games professionals. Some of the highlights:

”Next generation Visual Computing” – featuring Miguel Sainz and Yury Uralsky, Developer Technology Group managers at Nvidia, discussing GPU computing, tessellation and dynamics, including general purpose computing as a real proposal in video game development. Also with a special presentation by Jens Olsson, Illuminate Labs, discussing BEAST technology, currently used in the upcoming title Mirror's Edge by EA DICE.

”Optimizing DirectX on Multi-core architectures” – with Leigh Davies, Senior Application Engineer at Intel, who will provide insight into effectively driving both Direct3D and graphics drivers in an efficient multi-core friendly manner, and discuss best practices to ensure that video driver and video hardware are running as asynchronously as possible.

”Visibility Optimisation for Games” – presented by software engineer Teppo Soininen, Umbra, which will examine the basic challenges of visibility optimisation, techniques to tackle these issues and ways to optimise performance for rendering massively dynamic environments on current generation hardware.

Other technology sessions will include a specially created double presentation from Microsoft, ”Getting more from Multicore” and ”D3D10: Getting from 0 to 60Hz”. Also featured in the program will be ”Unsung AI” with in-depth presentations and discussion on the latest artificial intelligence programming topics and featuring Jasmin Orthbandt, Pixeltamer and AI experts from Kynogon and EA Montreal Studio, courtesy of Autodesk.
