Nordic Computer Game Program

Six new projects share 3 million Danish kroners of funding.

Six new Nordic game projects have just been granted millions in funding from the Nordic Computer Game Program.

This year’s first round of development grants took place at the international game conference Nordic Game 2009, where 3 million Danish kroners’ worth of funding found its way to the Nordic game industry.

As many as 86 game projects, a new record, were submitted to the Nordic Computer Game Program, and most of them were extremely qualified.

”The expert group was pleased to see the wealth of high-quality applications in this round” it emerged from a joint statement from the expert group, which evaluated the many applications.

“This reinforc es the impression of a highly creative, competent, and innovative Nordic games industry, whose major obstacles are barriers to market entry, and as a result, also barriers to early stage funding. Now at least a few more of all the potential good games have been helped part of the way towards reaching their audience”, the collected statement concluded.

The following Nordic game companies received funding in this year’s first round:

Art of Crime Aps (Denmark), DKK 500,000 for “Crimeville”

Casual Continent Ltd (Finland), DKK 500,000 for “Crown of Byzantium”

Recoil Games Oy (Finland), DKK 500,000 for “Earth No More”

Press Play Aps (Denmark), DKK 450,000 for “Hard Plastic”

Tactile Entertainment Aps (Denmark), DKK 250,000 for iCreatures

L Mediahouse (Sweden), DKK 400,000 for “Sky Heroes”

In addition to the above-mentioned projects, four of the appli cants were granted DKK 100,000 each to improve their applications.
