May 22, 2007, New York - Humongous, Inc. announced today that Detroit Red Wings nine-time NHL all-star and Olympic gold medalist, Nicklas Lidstrom, has been named as the cover athlete for the newest version of Backyard Hockey. Available exclusively for the Nintendo DS this fall, the next chapter in the hugely popular Backyard Sports video game series will have kids nationwide challenging each other in the ultimate competition on ice.

About Nicklas Lidstrom

Swedish-born hockey defenseman, Nicklas Lidstrom, has played 15 successful seasons in the NHL, making nine all-star game appearances as a Detroit Red Wing. He has led the Red Wings to three Stanley Cup Championships in 1997, 1998, and 2002, earning a Conn Smythe Trophy in the 2002 playoffs. Lidstrom has also made his mark in hockey on the international level, helping his hometown Swedish team score a gold medal in the 2006 Olympic Games. His impressive career has additionally landed him four Norris Trophies in the 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2006 seasons.
