New web portal for mobile game firms launches

MobileGamesDb.com to utilise new mgXML format

A new web portal for mobile phone games has been launched to offer mobile companies a way of sharing information using the new mgXML format.

MobileGamesDb.com will feature game reviews, screenshots and release dates, and details of any awards received.

The new mgXML format is an XML file used for transferring information, and is designed to be used by publishers, developers and mobile operators. For example, developers can use it to send distribution packages to distribution partners.

"Developers can now submit the mgXML information by e-mail, and we call upon all developers and providers of mobile games to prepare these mgXML schemes," said MGDB's Lukas Kokoska.

"Many mobile developers, mobile operators, and providers of mobile games gave very good feedback on the project, we hope to expand this open platform including the mgXML standard," added MGDB's Morgan Kane.

The portal is currently in the beta phase, so some feature are not yet up and running - but in the future, it will feature direct importing and exporting of the mgXML standard, and a more extensive database.
