National Film Theatre plans videogames culture weekend

London's National Film Theatre, based in the South Bank Centre, is to host its first ever weekend focused on videogame culture this July, with a number of events, talks and activities planned over the course of the weekend.

Titled NTI*, which stands for Non-Trivial Interaction, the weekend will include previews of forthcoming titles, talks from key game designers, screenings of machinima (short movies made with game engines) and a games arcade.

Among the speakers already confirmed on the programme are Lionhead chief Peter Molyneux, Free Radical Design's David Doak, Eidos' Ian Livingstone, Half-Life creators Valve and scriptwriter Roger Avary, best known for his work as co-writer of Pulp Fiction, who is now working on a script for game-to-movie conversion Silent Hill.

The event will unsurprisingly focus heavily on the increasingly close ties between the worlds of film and videogames, and tickets can be bought from the National Film Theatre box office on +44 (0)20 7928 3232.
