More sessions announced for SIGGRAPH 2005

The organisers of the 32nd SIGGRAPH International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques have unveiled more special sessions scheduled for the event.

'Jump! Shout! Dance! Sing! An Interactive Conversation About Games, Game Art, and Play That Goes Way Beyond the Joystick' will look at new means of controlling games, with a focus on music titles and Sony's EyeToy. Richard Marks, creator of the EyeToy camera, will take part in the discussion, along with Harmonix's Greg LoPiccolo and Michael McHale from Konami.

The 'Extreme Fashion session' will see artists, scientists and designers discussing the impact of advanced technology on the fashion industry, while 'From the Earth to Infinity' will offer views of the universe rarely seen before courtesy of scientists from NASA and Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

In 'The Legacy of Disney Animation', Disney filmmakers will discuss contemporary animation techniques and show footage of current and forthcoming projects. Artists and technicians who worked on The Polar Express will focus on stereoscopic 3D with an IMAX presentation.

And finally, Industrial Light & Magic will present a Star Wars retrospective covering all six films. As previously announced, George Lucas will take part in a session titled 'A Keynote Q&A With the Father of Digital Cinema' on the second day of the event.

SIGGRAPH 2005 will take place from July 31 - August 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. More information can be found at the SIGGRAPH website.
