Mole Control

"New take on the classic puzzle game minesweeper" taken under the wing of Blitz 1UP.

18 NOVEMBER 2009, LEAMINGTON SPA UK – Blitz Games Studios has today announced the signing of puzzle game Mole Control to its Blitz 1UP label. Due for worldwide release on PC in January 2010, Mole Control is a new take on the classic puzzle game minesweeper and has been developed by Remode with the help of Blitz Games Studios.

Mole Control boasts unique new mechanics and a charming style that brings the classic logic based game minesweeper into the 21st century. Pilot a crazy invention through a mind-bending adventure, or enjoy a frantic time attack challenge, all with the aim of ridding the town of exploding moles! There are a whole host of features to help you on your way:

• Scan for nearby exploding moles with your buggy, then use the numbers to find and dig them up… but be careful not to drive over them!

• Play through Adventure Mode to save the village and unlock more frantic Time Attack levels in order to win the village’s annual Mole Control competition

• Discover five different Supermole power-ups across six different zones

• Random puzzle generation for ultimate replay value in over 35 levels

• Unlock background story and the mystery behind the runaway moles.

“We’re thrilled to partner Remode on Mole Control. They’ve crafted a wonderful re-imagining of the classic minesweeper style of game play,” says Chris Swan, Blitz Arcade’s Business Development Director. “The combination of mad scientist, exploding moles and unique game play twists make Mole Control a fantastic puzzle adventure for everyone. We look forward to working closely with them to help launch the game in January 2010.”

Remode Managing Director Ella Romanos adds: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Blitz Game Studios. Taking a game to market as a small developer is really challenging, especially with our first title. Developing the game itself is one thing, but dealing with areas such as post-production and distribution has been the biggest unknown and the Blitz 1UP scheme is a great solution as it provides us with support in those areas.

“We grew up playing Dizzy and really admire Blitz’s ethos as a company so we are very pleased to partner with them. We believe that working with Blitz will greatly enhance the game’s success.”

Mole Control will be out worldwide on PC in January 2010.
