Midnight launch at HMV Trocadero, in England's London.

WHAT: Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 launch event

WHERE: HMV Trocadero Centre, London, Piccadilly Circus

WHEN: Monday 9th November 2009 at 12-midnight (Tuesday morning)

On November 10th, 2009, acclaimed developer Infinity Ward will make it’s return with the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to the multiple Game Of The Year winner Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

HMV are proud to be supporting the release with a huge midnight opening event to be held at HMV’s Trocadero store in London’s Piccadilly Circus on Monday 9th November 2009.

The launch night starts at 12-midnight (Monday night, Tuesday morning) with a heavy military presence descending on the store. Fans can then buy copies of the game including a HMV exclusive ‘Prestige Edition’ (with night vision goggles) available to buy on the night (subject to availability).

‘Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’ is set directly after the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The radical Ultranationalists have returned to prominence under the leadership of Vladimir Makarov, a former associate of Imran Zakhaev but with his own ambitions. Makarov, no longer kept in check and with his ambitions growing is building a strong power base. Fearful of Makarov's growing influence, the global community established Task Force 141 to counter the threat posed by the resurgent Ultranationalists.

An early campaign mission called "Cliffhanger" was demonstrated during E3 2009, following the player character Sergeant Sanderson as he and Captain MacTavish infiltrated a Russian base in the Tian Shan mountain range in Kazakhstan and escaped on snowmobiles. Winning ‘Best Shooting Game’ at E3 in 2009 and with recent accolades claiming “The benchmark for action games has just been raised”*, excitement around the release of what looks to be the biggest game ever has never been bigger.

As space in the queue is limited, customers are asked to pick up a wristband from the store on the day of the event from 9.00 am to allow them to queue at the store prior to the midnight launch event. Please note that customers wishing to attend this event should consider their travel plans and make necessary travel arrangements to get home after purchasing the game
