Military Madness

Turn-based strategy number available on the PlayStation Network now.

San Mateo, Calif. – November 5, 2009 – Military Madness: Nectaris, the classic turn-based strategy game published by Hudson Entertainment, the North and South American subsidiary of HUDSON SOFT, is now available on PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system for $9.99. This new title features the same strategic gameplay that Military Madness players have come to expect, along with new features such as 3D graphics, four-player online or local team / vs. multiplayer, an all-new customizable Commander unit, leaderboards and more.

“We’re happy to be bringing Military Madness to a new generation of gamers on the PlayStation 3,” said Sabine Duvall, Vice President of Digital Download at Hudson Entertainment. “With robust online multiplayer, deeper strategy thanks to the customizable Commander unit, Military Madness: Nectaris is going give budding military commanders something to strategize about.”

With up to four-person online or local multiplayer available in vs. or team battles, Military Madness masters can compete with each other across the world. Multiplayer maps are also specifically designed to be balanced for 2, 3 or 4 players. The addition of the multiplayer-specific Commander unit allows players to customize their strategies before a battle by spending points to select abilities that improve the Commander unit itself, improve friendly units or disrupt enemy units.

Within a year of its original release on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1989, Military Madness won awards for “Best Military Strategy Game” and “Best War Game.” The game features two opposing forces with near-future military equipment battling it out on the Moon. Each level is a distinct map with a hex grid, on which players take turns moving their units in an effort to win by destroying all enemy units or taking over the enemy headquarters. Like the original game, Military Madness: Nectaris players strategize by the placement and movement of units, make use of terrain advantages and predict enemy movements to outsmart the enemy. Military Madness: Nectaris has been rated E10+ by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
