Mikoishi and Nexon team up for RTS

SteamIron aimed at South Korean market

Korean publisher Nexon Mobile and Singaporean developer Mikoishi have announced the first game that will be released as part of their joint development partnership.

SteamIron: The Fallen, built using Mikoishi's platform for online games, will be released in South Korea in November. It belongs to the real-time strategy genre, which is hugely popular in the region.

It will feature full online multiplayer and community features.

"SteamIron: The Fallen was designed specifically to cater to the massive RTS fan base in Korea," said Mikioshi's CEO, Alex Goatcher.

"In the past, RTS games have been tried on mobile but have failed due to the lack of cooperative and competitive gameplay. Now RTS games can now be played in a swift, fair and controlled mobile environment."

SteamIron is intended to be the first instalment in a sci-fi franchise spanning multiple platforms, and eventually featuring cross-platform play.

Mikoishi and Nexon also have plans to develop three more mobile games, a Nintendo DS title and a PC MMO.
