Midyear report

Data on PC release date slippage, market share and more.

London, United Kingdom – July 15, 2008– Resonance-Gaming today released its midyear report on PC video games within the next 6 months. The report combines data from several external sources to provide a simplified data analysis.

Contained within the data are the four main topics which will affect gamers in the next 6 months. This includes Game Genre Distribution, which is the generalized chart using 10 games in each month leading up the end of the year. The chart shows which genres are currently being developed the most, and as a result, which are being developed the least.

Game Release Date Changes uses the game 10 games from each month, and generalizes the average percentage of games which have fallen behind schedule since the first press release announcing a date. Surprisingly 5% have been pushed forward and 25% pushed back.

Minor \ Major Distribution uses another mixed set of games due to be released in the next 6 months at averages the percentage of high budget games versus the low budget games. This data is collected where possible from press releases, else based mainly on the studio size and average budget rather than pure facts.
