Midway promotes brace of execs

Martin Spiess and Miguel Iribarren take senior roles at US publisher

Midway has announced two executive promotions in an attempt to reinvigorate the beleaguered publisher.

Miguel Iribarren has been promoted to senior vice president of publishing while Martin Spiess has taken on the role of executive vice president of Midway's International business.

"With these two executives, as well as the rest of our experienced management team, I am confident that we can improve execution and deliver on Midway's promise to regain its industry leadership and become a top tier, profitable company in the coming years," commented Matt Booty, CEO of Midway.

Iribarren joined Midway in 2002 and recently served as vice president of publishing, while Spiess was Midway's managing director for Europe.

These promotions come almost a month after David Zucker resigned from the position of CEO, which he served for just under five years.

Midway reported an annual loss of USD 97.4 million for the 2007 fiscal year.
