Microsoft reassures Live users over fraud fears

No security issues with Xbox Live or Bungie.net

Microsoft has moved to reassure Xbox Live users that accounts have not been hacked or used for fraudulent activity.

The move follows a number of complaints by Xbox 360 users that their GamerTags had been used by other players, resulting in users being frozen out of Xbox Live accounts.

"We want to reassure all of our six million Xbox Live members that we have looked into the situation and found no evidence of any compromise of the security of Bunige.net or our Live network," said Microsoft.

Reports of hijacked accounts were first publicised by security researcher Kevin Finisterre, who had raised issues of Bungie.net being hacked in his Full Disclosure mailing list last weekend, reports ZDnet.
