Memento Mori

Website launched.

Hamburg/Germany, April 14th, 2008 – Publisher dtp entertainment and developers Centauri Production/Cinemax present new screenshots from the upcoming point & click mystery adventure Memento Mori. The new website www.mementomori-game.com informs adventure game enthusiasts about the story and the two playable characters, Larisa Svetlova and Maxim Durand. Until the relaease of the game there will be regular updates with news, screenshots, videos and trailers on the website.

The story: A painting from the Hermitage in St. Petersburg has been exchanged with a worthless duplicate. At first sight, this seems to be nothing unusual, art theft is a common occurance. But there is more…

The game takes reference of a secret order called “Ikuinen nukkuja”, which is mostly unknown outside of well-informed art circles. It is their duty, so they claim, to prevent certain paintings from becoming open to the public. They rely on an ancient work called “Ars moriendi”, which dates back to the first half of the fifteenth century. It is written here, that one can see the Angel of Death when tottering on the edge of life and death.

In history, many painters waited just for this moment, or even tried to exact it themselves. Their goal: to include the image of the Angel of Death into their paintings. The members of the secret order assigned themselves the task to anticipate this. If possible, the order makes direct contact with such artists to persuade them against this goal, resorting to bribery, threats, and even murder when necessary.

For centuries the secret society has managed to replace such artwork with forgeries. With this knowledge, previous art thefts suddenly appear in a different light.

Colonel Ostankovic, commander of the 12th department of St. Petersburg police, learns this and sounds the alarm. He orders 32 year old Larisa Ivanova Svetlova, one of his best detectives, to take over this case. Larisa contacts 31 year old Maxim Durand, who has been arrested for forgery in the past. He is in touch with this criminal scene and sometimes works as Larisa’s informant.

Colonel Ostankovic suspects that the string of art related theft maybe the work of the “Ikuinen Nukkuja”, a somewhat secretive order known by inner circles of the art community.

Memento Mori sets up two main characters. It is the player’s task to uncover with the help of Larisa Svetlova and Maxim Durand: the secret on the St Petersburg art theft, the mysterious order and its machinations.

Memento Mori is developed by czech developers Centauri Production/Cinemax It will be released in fall 2008 by dtp entertainment in the GSA region.
