Mass Effect 3 sales pass $200 million at retail

BioWare's end to the trilogy putting up solid numbers for EA

Mass Effect 3 is bringing in some strong retail sales for publisher Electronic Arts, who, as part of the fourth-quarter earnings announcement today, announced that BioWare's latest Mass Effect title managed to generate over $200 million in sales at retail.

The company, however, did not mention unit sales for Mass Effect 3 for either retail or digital. As of last month, the game had sold 1.3 million copies in the US.

It would appear that the outrage over Mass Effect 3's ending did not significantly harm the game's sales. BioWare tried to contain fans' furor by offering additional content for "further closure."
