Mad Catz appoints new board chairman

Mad Catz has appointed Thomas Brown to the position left vacant since Geofrey Myers passed away

Mad Catz, a third-party interactive entertainment accessory provider, has announced that Thomas R. Brown has been appointed non-executive Chairman of its Board of Directors.

The role of Chairman has been vacant since March 2008 when former Chairman, Geofrey Myers, passed away.

"Our former Chairman, Geof Myers, will always be missed, both for his enormous contributions to Mad Catz and as a trusted advisor and friend to us all," said CEO and president Darren Richardson. "But we are delighted to have Tom as our new Chairman."

"Since joining Mad Catz' Board in 2006, Tom's extensive experience in the consumer electronics industry, financial reporting, supply chain management, manufacturing and outsourcing has proven to be invaluable to the Company. We look forward to Tom's ongoing contributions in his new role as we continue our efforts to grow the company and increase shareholder value."

Mad Catz' Board of Directors is comprised of five members, four of whom are considered independent under the corporate governance standards of the American Stock Exchange.

Brown spent over 16 years in management at Sony Electronics and was a senior manager at Price Waterhouse - now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers. He has a degree in economics from Rutgers University and is a certified public accountant.
