LucasArts has signed a new agreement with Day 1 Studios, the developer behind the MechAssault series, to produce a new intellectual property for release on next-gen consoles.

LucasArts has signed a new agreement with Day 1 Studios, the developer behind the MechAssault series, to produce a new intellectual property for release on next-gen consoles.

No further details about the IP have been revealed at this stage, although it was confirmed that it will make use of Day 1's proprietary technology.

"The phenomenal technology created by Day 1 directly affects gameplay in extremely innovative ways - and it perfectly complements the engaging story and intriguing characters youâd expect of a LucasArts title," said Peter Hirschmann, VP of product development for LucasArts.

Day 1 president Denny Thorley added: "We wanted to work with a publisher who would set the bar sky-high... We are inspired by the opportunity to work with LucasArts on their first entirely new property specifically for next-gen consoles."

Day 1 is already developing multiple games for next-gen platforms, including the Xbox 360 version of Vivendi's hit first-person shooter, F.E.A.R.
