Limited edition Pokemon GBA packs planned for Christmas

Nintendo has announced Christmas plans for the GBA, with special limited edition packs featuring a GBA SP console, a copy of Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire and a matching carry case due for release in late November.

The Pokemon Super Paks, as they're dubbed, will retail for â'¬170 on the continent, which all logic suggests should translate to about £120 in the UK - but given the debacle over the recent GameCube price cut, which left it £10 more expensive in the UK than in Euroland, it wouldn't be entirely surprising to see it sold for £130.

The package, which is described as "limited edition" and includes special Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire versions of the GBA SP itself, will ship on November 28th across Europe.

Nintendo will be hoping to gain even more sales for the successful Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire titles with this imitative. The games have already sold some 1.5 million units in this territory, following an opening weekend that saw European sales of some 500,000 units racked up.

The company is also expected to announce other bundles in the near future, in particular one for the highly anticipated Mario Kart: Double Dash, which is due to appear on the GameCube next month.
