Lightsprint Announces SDK 2008, New Licensee

January 21, 2008

Lightsprint, developer of realistic lighting middleware, announced the Lightsprint SDK 2008 release with unique realtime and offline global illumination engines integrated, higher quality lighting; and a new licensee, EGN Interactive.

Highlights of the latest Lightsprint SDK are

- simple unified API for both realtime and offline lighting

- physical light simulation with infinite bounces, color bleeding

- robustness, unlimited number of static and dynamic light sources

- performance, 400 fps in Lightsmark 2007

New Lightsprint SDK offers game developers freedom in transition from precomputed lightmaps to realtime computed global illumination. Both technologies are fully supported, switching between them is effortless.

"It's amazing how realtime global illumination helps," says Lightsprint founder Stepan Hrbek. "Lightsmark 2007, benchmark made with Lightsprint SDK in three weeks and released silently, quickly attracted over half million web references." Lightsprint SDK helps also in Team Bondi's L.A. Noire and in other undisclosed games.
