Last Straw MMO Developer Awards

Minneapolis, MN – March 8, 2010 – Last Straw Productions announced today the beginning of the nomination voting period for the MMO Developer Awards, which will take place at the Looking For Group Expo this June in Minneapolis. The MMO Developer Awards will honor gaming industry professionals and independents who’ve stood out from the crowd. The MDA nominees are chosen by the public through strategic partnerships with primary award partners including MMORPG.com and Lagwar.com.
ZAM network and Spilgames, among others, will join current award partner sites to allow voting. The top 5 nominees chosen across all voting sites will go before the LFGX awards committee, a carefully chosen group of media and industry professionals who will then choose winners. This process allows the players to decide who should be considered for the awards instead of marketing dollars.
“Traditionally, award shows are large marketing ventures in which money must exchange hands to even be considered for nominations.” says Last Straw CEO Jonathon Stevens. “I don’t believe in this sort of system and believe any MMO deserves to be nominated if the public believes in it.”
Nomination voting will go from March 8th through April 30th. Nominees will be announced in May with the winners receiving their awards at the VIP dinner banquet and MMO Developer Award show taking place at the Looking For Group Expo on June 26th, 2010.
