Konami has signed Brazilian striker Leite Ribeiro Adriano to be the face of Pro Evolution 6 when the game launches on PC, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 and DS this autumn.

Adriano's footballing career began when he joined Brazilian league club Flamengo, before signing for Inter Milan a year later. He made his international debut for Brazil against Colombia in 2000, and honours earned include the Copa America and Copa Italia.

Adriano has also been awarded several Confederations Cup winners medals and, in 2005, received the Golden Ball and Golden Boot for the five goals he scored during the competition.

Adriano will appear on the cover of Pro Evolution Soccer 6 across Europe, with other local players to be announced shortly.

"I am really looking forward to working with Konami on what everyone knows to be the most realistic football game around," Adriano said.

"Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is known worldwide for its quality and I am delighted to be associated with such a fine series."
