KODE5 Global Finals Conclude

NiP, SK-Gaming Take Top Honors in Beijing

(Beijing, CHINA) - October 19, 2006 - From September 28th ~ 29th, the world's top gamers gathered in Beijing, China for the final KODE5 event of the year - The KODE5 Global Finals. Supported by Foxconn, Corsair Memory, Razer, and AMD, KODE5 brought 90 gamers from 16 countries to the Beihang University Sports Center to determine who would walk away with the title of KODE5 2006 Global Champion. After two days of intense competition, Sweden's Ninjas in Pajamas (NiP) and Deadman from SK-Gaming (SK|Deadman) took top honors at the event, winning first place in Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne respectively. With raving fans clamoring in the stands and live television and media crews capturing the action, the KODE5 Global Finals marks the grand finale to an entire season of international gaming events.

The KODE5 Global Finals celebrates the dedication, hard work, perseverance, and spirit of all gamers who practice day-in and day-out to perfect their game. E-sports requires he same hand-eye coordination, strategy, and teamwork of traditional sports. Thus, it was only fitting to hold the KODE5 Global Finals in a place that is one of the official venues of the 2008 Olympic Games - The Beihang University Sports Center. This multi-sport facility covers almost 14,000 square meters of space, and can accommodate over 4,600 spectators. From September 29th ~ 30th, the Beihang University Sports Center was the venue for the inaugural KODE5 Global Finals. On the event floor, KODE5 supporters AMD, Foxconn, Corsair Memory, and Razer displayed their latest product offerings for the e-sports fans in attendance.

When the lights came down, spectators were treated to a rousing opening ceremony featuring traditional Chinese drumming. Their powerful beats and driving rhythms set the pace for the gaming action just ahead. Afterwards, representatives from AMD, Foxconn, Corsair, and Razer came to say a few words and kick off the pinnacle e-sports event of 2006.

With some of the world's top teams in attendance, the KODE5 Global Finals was a real treat for E-sports fans around the globe. With the help of Global Media Partners GotFrag ( http://www.gotfrag.com) and Team Sportscast Network ( http://www.tsncentral.com), e-sports fans from around the world could tune into the action live over the Internet. To spread word of KODE5 around Beijing and the rest of China local Chinese media partners China Electronic Athletics ( http://www.china-ea.net/), NiceZ! ( http://www.nicez.com), Game.163.com ( http://www.game163.com), and Replays.net ( http://www.replays.net) were on hand to capture the action for local Chinese fans. By forming alliances with some of the world's top e-sports media groups, KODE5 is spreading its message of competitive gaming to the masses.

The action was fast and furious as the world's top gamers brought their amazing skills to the KODE5 Global Finals. With some serious bragging rights and over $70,000 in cash and prizes on the line, e-sports fans were treated to some fantastic matchups over the two event days.

Some of the greatest Warcraft III players in the world were in attendance at KODE5's final 2006 event. After two days of competition, SK|Deadman, who represented KODE5 Russia, managed to rise above and take not only $10,000 in cash, but also the title of KODE5 2006 Warcraft III Global Champion. KODE5 UK's 4K^ToD, who placed second, took home $4,000 for his efforts, while 4K^Grubby from KODE5 Germany walked away with a cool $1,000 for third place.

Over in the Counter-Strike 1.6 competition, NiP from KODE5 UK prevailed over KODE5 China's wNv to take home $25,000 and the KODE5 2006 Counter-Strike Global Champion trophy. wNv walked away with $10,000 for winning second place, while Hoorai from KODE5 Spain took $5,000 for third place.
